Session View Support development CZ

Extension for Google Chrome

Every project in its own session

Session View is a visual manager for your working sessions in Chrome. A session here is not a dead snapshot you might return to one day. It is a live workspace.

Free for personal use · No account · Your data stays in your Chrome

Under three minutes on sessions, the Tab Manager, sound control and statistics.

How it works

A session that always matches what you are working on

See previews of its tabs, open it in one click, switch to it when it is already open, and keep changing it as you work.

  1. Save a window as a session

Save a window as a named session, or start an empty one and fill it by dragging tabs into it.

  2. Work, it saves itself

Linked windows are saved automatically, so the session always reflects the current state of the project.

  3. Put it aside, come back

When you put a project aside, close its window and Chrome can free up memory. When you come back, restore the session in a new window.

Features

Everything you need to work in sessions

Sessions

  • Save a window as a named session, with or without closing it.
  • Create empty sessions, rename, hide and reorder them with drag and drop.
  • Restore a session in a new window; if it is already open, the button switches to its window.
  • Choose a normal or incognito window for each session. Incognito mode requires allowing the extension in Chrome settings.
  • Optional automatic sync for tab changes in linked windows.
  • Optionally create a session automatically for every new window.
  • Restore all matching sessions at once.

Tabs

  • Visual previews of saved tabs.
  • Move a tab to another session by dragging its preview. The tab closes in the original window only after it has been saved to the destination.
  • Custom tab names that are kept when the session syncs.
  • Close a single tab or a whole session window, with confirmation.
  • Open a saved tab your way: switch to it if it is already open, open it in the session's window or your last used window, or in a new window.

Tab Manager

  • A separate window with a live overview of all open windows side by side, free for everyone.
  • Drag tabs between windows and into sessions; click a tab to switch to it.
  • Bulk actions on selected tabs: close, put to sleep, move or save as a new session.
  • Find duplicate pages and see your tabs grouped by website.
  • Put inactive tabs to sleep to free up memory.

Sound

  • Mute a single tab or a whole window.
  • Permanently muted sessions: new tabs are muted too, and the session stays muted after restoring it or restarting Chrome.
  • See what is playing and what is muted, grouped by window and session.
  • Mute everything with one click from the popup header.

Usage statistics

  • How much time you spend in each window, session, website and page.
  • Active time, daily average, most active hour, tab switches and charts by day and hour.
  • Periods of today, 7, 30 or 90 days.
  • Only the active tab in the focused window is counted; Incognito windows are never tracked. Statistics can be turned off in settings and cleared at any time.

Search, look and backups

  • Search by session name, tab title or URL.
  • Split and compact layouts, light and dark themes.
  • Keyboard navigation and an interface in 10 languages, including English, German, French, Spanish and Japanese.
  • Export encrypted backups protected by a passphrase; import older unencrypted backups with a warning.

Privacy and permissions

Your sessions stay in your Chrome

Sessions and previews are stored in Chrome's local extension storage. The extension has no account or built-in cloud sync.

  • Tabs and windows

Tab and window access is used to save, restore and sync sessions.

  • Page content

Access to page content is needed to capture tab previews.

  • Incognito

If you allow the extension in Incognito mode, it may also store and sync tabs from Incognito windows.

  • Statistics stay with you

Measured time stays in local storage for 90 days and is never sent anywhere. The idle and alarms permissions are used only for measuring; statistics can be turned off.

  • Encrypted backups

The passphrase for an encrypted backup is not stored.

  • Favicons

When a favicon is displayed, Chrome may load its image from the corresponding website.
